Her jazz, blues, and swing performances are heavily influenced by many genres-from classical compositions, to musicals, and popular songs of the past. They all encompassing a soulful, earnest expression of melody and rhythm. She likes to swing, sway, slide, and let the music speak its own intentions. Expression and mood are her favorite elements of any tune. Julie's take on her music is:
"If a song hits you the right way, it's a great song. Jazz and blues always hit me with something good that takes me to a different place. What kind of day did you have? How are your friends treating you? Where is your woman, or your man these days? Do you have one? Are you working? Sultry, swinging, burning mad, sweet and sad, beaming with pride or aching inside. Jazz and blues will describe it all for you."
She works with a variety of musicians from Broadway, Regional, and jazz legends who make their home right here in Philadelphia. Her support of live music is a constant and believes in supporting all venues who feature live jazz and blues.
